Goodbye MySpace. Hello Facebook.

I rarely visit the teenybopper juggernaut known as MySpace. And not because of the kids. I love kids. I rarely visit because it is slow, the advertising is intrusive, and the user-customizable layout and piss-poor UI combine to form a horrific train wreck of gaudy page backgrounds, misalignment, side scrolling, and stinky sock odor. I'm all for personal expression, but thanks to MySpace’s glacial page loading and auto song loading, it takes me three weeks and a headache just to see what's up with my good compeers.

This is why you can usually find me at Flickr and Last.fm.

And now, Facebook, the cleanest, slickest, most usable social network (just ask the 10 million college students who have been using it exclusively for years) is open to all. I cordially invite you to join me over there:

Good day, MySpace. I said, good day!

So true. To say I prefer Facebook to MySpace is a gross understatement. I have no desire to destroy Facebook. And, thanks to my former status as 'staff' at the U of U, I've been on it for just over a year. Welcome, latecomer!

I haven't tried Facebook, but thank you for giving me an alternative. Myspace makes me crazy! I'm going to gather all my nearest and dearest and make them all make the move.

Facebook is an epidemic that is destroying today's youth. They spend hours on the computer perversely staring at pictures and general to private information of one another. they give away their right to privacy without even knowing it. It is a sex offender's paradise. Instead of wasting time on facebook, teens and young adults could be planting trees, reading books or even feeding the poor. Also, the "social connections" people make on Facebook are false and have no depth. It destroys friendship by debasing it to the lowest level of "hey, we need to hang out soon girl"...but we all know they will never actually hang out. Facebook users, take a word from me, and GET A LIFE!
